Learning new technology is like learning any new language: both exciting and frustrating. In studying a musical instrument, it is easy to forget the procedures if they are not immediately put to use and practiced. Thus far, this project is both exciting and frustrating. I want it to work; I want it to work right and so far, I am not completely convinced that I know what I am doing. With practice, time will tell.
As well, it is embarrassing to forget.

reflection: This was a presentation as if taught to a middle school art class. Various games and activities were included such as the crossword puzzle seen above. Jane Alexander is a sculptor whose works comment on current social political issues in South Africa. Using direct modeling techniques and working in plaster, she produces life size figures, which gain presence from their human scale, and small figures set in multimedia installations. In her sculptures and photomontages she synthesizes her perceptions of the human condition, locating her themes in her own experience. The artist offers no supporting commentary and maintains that her sculpture is primarily a visual statement. As a result, her works require close scrutiny and ask the viewer to construct meanings…
Considered one of the most highly regarded artists in South Africa, Alexander is also one of the most reticent, taking the position that her work must make its own statement. Alexander is an artist whose talent was clearly apparent from the start. Her piece Butcher Boys, the most popular contemporary piece in the collection of the South African National Gallery, and chosen by Jean Clair for his show 'Identita e Alterita' ('Identity and Alterity') in the Palazzo Grassi at the 1995 Venice Biennale, was made while Alexander was still doing her Masters degree at the University of Witwatersrand.

ANIMATION
reflection: I love Godzilla. I can’t really explain this completely other that like any classic monster movie, the protagonist is a misunderstood outsider who is simply attempting to express him or herself in a world that completely misunderstands them. There is always a subtext of motivation and intent that is frequently so far hidden under the surface that it only emerges after a great degree of critical analysis.
Making this stop action film at a speed of 10 fps was extremely time consuming but rewarding. My I-Movie crashed twice during the editing of this film thusly dumping about half of the images; this was fun for me. With this film, (Big) Godzilla (BG)is completely over the top with his “I’m a dude” lack of political sensitivity. He refers to Asians as “Nips”, “Japs” and is generally rude and disrespectful. (Little or Baby) Godzilla (LG){depending on the film, there has been some speculation as to if Godzilla is male or female, the baby having appeared in more than one film} is extremely embarrassed by his dad’s language and attitude, trying to keep BG in check, but to no avail. LG begins to show his monsters colors in the following conversation; BG – “I’M HUNGRY! I WANT TO EAT SOME NOODLES!” LG – “You mean like you ate mom last night? Hehehehehehehhehehh!” yeah, O.K. Both monsters truly revile their shadow side when they first see the restaurant staff, and shortly there after begin eating.
