Luminous-Lint is unparalleled in its depth and quality of photo-historical content for photography curators, artists and photo-aficionados the world over. (Graham Howe, CEO and owner, Curatorial Assistance, Pasadena)

I like going back to Luminous-Lint because: it is an extremely well written and well documented site – incorporating many photo collections, and highlighting special clusters within the field. (Els Barents, Director, Huis Marseille Museum voor Fotografie)

Simply the most complete online source for information about the history of photography. (Robert Hirsch, Photo-historian, photographer and author of numerous books on photography)

Luminous-Lint is, in my experience, the most comprehensive history of photography resource on the internet, far surpassing what you‘d find in any one book. The level of detail in the research is astounding. I have yet to find a similar site that matches it. (Karl Baden, Boston College)

I refer to Luminous-Lint frequently to get a better and deeper visual understanding of photographic history; to look for new work and ideas. I also refer students - it is simply the most comprehensive and accessible database of it‘s kind. (Neil Folberg, Photographer and owner, Vision Gallery, Jerusalem, Israel)

I adore Luminous Lint because it is a reliable source for accurate information on subjects both mainstream and quirky in the world of photography. Also because it organizes knowledge in a non-linear fashion which encourages creative, out-of-the-box thinking. (Barbara Tannenbaum, Curator of Photography, Cleveland Museum of Art) Luminous-Lint is an essential resource for understanding photography. As John Cloake, a UK collector, wrote "it feels like a commonwealth allowing collectors and enthusiasts to contribute in a minor way to the research effort."

I agree with you, George, this website is very helpful and it is super well organized. I am actually not that good with photography so seeing all this work makes me want to learn more about it. I like the feel of the photos that look vintage because it makes me feel like life was at a much slower-pace than now days. It is an easy website to get to and you can pretty much navigate through it very easy and find all the photos that you want from the last decade. good resource for teaching in the future.

Oh, this is so useful for me! I am teaching a short unit in Art 407 next semester that deals with cyanotypes, and I always need new examples of the process for students to learn. I also want to explore some other alternative processes -- I'm not a photo person, so it's always a challenge for me to find interesting ideas for artists, processes, etc.

Great site. Easy on the eye. Many websites seem to lack the ability to view their own website from the eye of a viewer, looking at it for the first time. A small introduction to the art, and leaves me wanting to see more. The most interesting thing about George Barker's art is that I have difficulty placing the time (or decade). This is coming from someone who knows what he was reading 30 years ago. Keep it up.

I like that the website has a wide range of photographers! It's cool to see even photography that sometimes goes unseen. They even have a section for most popular photographers this month--which is nice! That reminded me of the "popular page" on instagram.

What an amazing website! I love looking at pictures of our history. Today I feel they are hard to come by. In our society new media and pictures boom out everywhere, it can be overwhelming. I'm glad there is a website like this that exists to keep records of our history not just in books but in our main stream internet.

Thank you George for turning me on to this site! It's so creative and fun. This is great for me as I am feeling without a muse as of late and this may be just what I need.

Ooooooo what a neat website with so many curious images to look at. I'm certain that site will come in use for future assignments, future students, and for myself when I'm bored and want an interesting website to peruse. Thanks George!
